We are seeking a General Manager to lead and run our Canadian operations, with a focus on aligning sales, engineering, and production into a disciplined, high-performing operating system.
This role is responsible for controlling work intake, enforcing execution discipline, and ensuring the business operates in a structured, predictable, and profitable manner. The successful candidate will act as the central decision-maker across day-to-day operations, ensuring the right work is taken on and delivered effectively.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a builder-operator who can impose structure, drive accountability, and lead execution in a complex, project-based manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day business performance, including delivery, throughput, and profitability
- Control and align work intake with production capacity to ensure achievable commitments
- Drive execution of complex, high-reliability projects from quote through delivery with strong governance and accountability
- Oversee and enforce project management frameworks, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality management
- Ensure all work is delivered on time and within budget, with clear ownership of schedule adherence and cost performance
- Establish and monitor financial controls, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis in coordination with the CFO
- Implement and maintain performance metrics and reporting systems to track delivery, financial performance, resource utilization, and quality outcomes
- Ensure robust quality management systems are maintained and continuously improved in alignment with industry standards (e.g., ISO, nuclear QA programs, aerospace quality standards)
- Oversee shop floor operations, including workforce planning, labour utilization, and productivity optimization
- Ensure equipment, tooling, and infrastructure support safe, efficient, and high-quality production
- Enforce alignment between sales, engineering, and production teams, resolving conflicts and setting priorities
- Establish and lead a structured operating rhythm, including regular production and project reviews focused on decisions and performance
- Drive accountability across all functional leaders (sales, engineering, production) for delivery and results
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Aerospace, or related), or a degree in related field; MBA considered an asset
- 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, or project-based environments
- Demonstrated success managing complex, custom, or project-driven operations
- Strong background in program or project management methodologies
- Proven experience with financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Experience overseeing shop floor operations and technical production environments
- Working knowledge of quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, CSA N299, AS9100 or equivalent)
- Proven track record of delivering work on time, within scope, and on budget
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or PMP certification considered an asset
Key Competencies
- Strong operational leadership and decision-making capability
- Program and project execution discipline
- Financial oversight and cost control
- Cross-functional leadership and alignment
- Accountability and performance management
- Systems thinking and process implementation
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Confidence to make decisions and push back when required to protect business performance
This role is responsible for running the business on a day-to-day basis and ensuring execution across all functions.
What We Offer
- Competitive executive compensation package
- Comprehensive health and benefits plan
- Opportunities to work on complex, high-impact projects across multiple advanced industries
