Duties / Responsibilities |
Position: Manufacturing Engineer
In this position you will be reporting to the Energy & Process Piping manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead the manufacturing team in a custom, made to order, production environment.
- Work collaboratively with purchasing, engineering, production, quality, skilled trades, and the end customer to establish pricing, delivery, and quality requirements.
- Receive and analyze RFQ packages from both new and existing customers
- Work with suppliers to obtain accurate quotes for raw materials and services to permit the preparation of the entire quote package (cost, specs, delivery, performance, etc.)
- Exploring new technologies, optimizing current processes, and developing suppliers are key factors in maintaining competitive advantage.
- Review past performance of similar products manufactured as a baseline for future performance Preparation of shipping and customs documents
- Assist with incoming and outgoing inspection
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Preference will be directed towards Mechanical Engineers/Technologists that have an established track record in the biotech, pharma, food & process piping industries.
- A demonstrated experience in a CUSTOM manufacturing environment that involves the transformation of steel (machining, cutting, shearing, welding, polishing and assembly) into finished equipment
- You are proficient in all MS Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint) applications and have previously utilized an order entry (ERP) software in a sales environment for the preparation of quotes and tracking key metrics (pricing, mfg. hours, production planning…)
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret customer specifications.
- Previous “Inside Sales” & “Project Management” experience a definite asset.
- Knowledge of ASME piping and pressure vessel standards
- Familiar with QMS system procedures and requirements…such as ISO and ASME
- Working knowledge of welding processes, symbols and certifications.
- Process-oriented.
- Analytical thinking.
- Interpersonal skills (communicating and working effectively with others and influencing skills).
- A demonstrated experience in a CUSTOM manufacturing environment that involves the transformation of steel (machining, cutting, shearing, welding, polishing and assembly) into finished equipment
- Proficient in all MS Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint) applications and have previously utilized an order entry (ERP) software in a sales environment for the preparation of quotes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret customer specifications.
- Previous “Inside Sales” & “Project Management” experience a definite asset.
- Ability to work with outside vendors and internal purchasing to expedite the quoting process.
- Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience.
Additional Preferred Competencies:
- Working knowledge of CAD Software(s): Solid Edge, SolidWorks, AutoCAD….
- Ability to work autonomously
- Team player with the willingness to take on and complete all assigned tasks
- A positive customer service attitude will position you well in this fast-paced environment.
