Duties / Responsibilities |
The applicant must meet the following qualifications:
- Valid Ontario Industrial Millwright Mechanic License.
- 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Read and write maintenance reports, maintenance log entries, manuals, procedures and related instructions.
- Valid Ontario drivers’ license.
- Pass mechanical knowledge testing.
- High level of hydraulic knowledge and gear box knowledge.
- Pass a General Qualifications/Abilities Test.
- Pass 20/20 vision (corrective lenses acceptable). To be verified by company doctor. Pass a hearing test. (Hearing Aid acceptable) – Administered by company doctor
- The applicant must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
- General mathematical knowledge (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, etc.) and be able to use a calculator correctly to perform required calculations.
JOB EXPECTATIONS: The following outlines some of the tasks and responsibilities to be performed:
- Read and write maintenance reports, maintenance log entries, manuals, procedures and related instructions.
- Practice and enforce safe lockout procedures.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
- Troubleshoot, erect, dismantle, install, repair and maintain facility machinery.
- Practice and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Communicate with operators from other shifts.
- Provide on-the-job training when required.
- Experienced in grinding and torch cutting steel and other materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and equipment specifications.
- Computer skills such as working fluently with Microsoft Word and Excel, and be capable of learning to operate the AS 400 module and other related computer programs.
- Complete Crane operator’s course rules/policies Ministry of Labour Regulations;
- Complete designated lift truck operator’s course. Obtain the appropriate lift truck operator’s certificate and operate lift truck, silent hoists and other material handling equipment following all rules and procedures for safe operation;
- Working knowledge of machine shop practical, such as lathe, surface grinder, drill press and milling machine sufficient to perform maintenance repairs.
- Replace defective parts of machine; adjust clearances and alignment to specifications.
- Be an active participant in meetings with production crews and operating personnel to resolve problems using Kaizen principles.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Secure the plant and switch off lights at end of shift. Assist on mill changeovers.
