Position Maintenance Manager - Oshawa

Education
    • Industrial Millwright (433A) license OR Electrician (442A or 309A) license • 10 years of maintenance work experience with proven mechanical ability • 3 years+ experience in maintenance management, ideally in a unionized setting • Experience with plastic or rubber injection processes an asset • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical • Ability to read blueprints and schematics • Good written and verbal skills
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assign, schedule and follow up on all maintenance work ; assign fairly and relative to competency, review work progress (including safety, time required to complete, effectiveness of repairs, leaving worksite tidy, etc.) as well as work hands-on as needed in a team support role
  • Review employee time sheets and complete all required reports, logs and maintenance schedules to reflect work completed
  • While coaching and prevention are preferable, as necessary apply discipline in an ethical, fair and consistent fashion and document these activities; involve employee representatives in any discipline
  • Prevent and resolve environmental issues including ensuring all chemicals and materials are labeled in an appropriate storage vessel, stored properly, contaminated fluids and materials are disposed of on a timely basis in accordance with legislated requirements, spills dealt with expediently, Environmental accidents affecting the environment must be reported to the Ministry of Environment (MOE)
  • Support activities promoting recycling and reusing and energy conservation (equipment and lighting not required is turned off, water sources are off if not in use, etc.)
  • Organize, implement and direct others in implementing an Emergency Response consistent with company standards relative to hazards
  • Ensure work site is free of material that offends or promotes misunderstanding on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental incapacity, race and religion and resolve all such infractions promptly and consistent with legislated Human Rights and company standards
