Education |
- Refrigeration Operator A OR Second Class Stationary / Power Engineer certification
- Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Mechanic license (R/HVAC) an asset
- Gas Fitter Level II or ODP ticket would also be assets
- Knowledge of ammonia based refrigeration systems
- Basic knowledge in welding, machining, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, drafting and blueprint reading
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter with a positive attitude, honest and strong work ethics
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Creative and quick decision maker with a focus on preventive maintenance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid computer skills (MS Word, Excel, E-Mail, etc.)
- Troubleshooting skills
- Track record of good attendance
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment equally well
- Must be comfortable with occasionally working in confined spaces
- Must be able to work occasionally in refrigerated areas where temperatures as low as -40F
- Must be ok to perform some work on roof top, where temperatures can vary depending on whether
- Ability to work overtime periodically

Duties / Responsibilities |
- Responsible for the plant refrigeration system
- Maintain and repair the refrigeration components of the plant in accordance with accepted standards
- Schedule all needed repairs, ensure PMs are completed on time, and co-ordinate with outside contractors for necessary repairs and inspections as well as in-house maintenance B Operators across multiple shifts
- Ensure the operations of the plant and power systems are in accordance to TSSA standards at all times
- Complete and maintain proper record keeping for all work done on the system, including completion of MOCs (management of changes) and inspection records
- Respond quickly to any calls from production to keep refrigeration equipment operational and ensure production runs smoothly
- Receive and complete refrigeration work orders and preventative maintenance work orders when assigned by Maintenance Team Leader
- Sign and date all completed work orders and PMs to record all problems or observations that should be brought to the Team Leader’s attention
- Assist with developing maintenance programs to help improve the operations and conditions of equipment
- Ensure all work performed complies with governing practices, codes and regulations
- Report to the Spills Action Center any refrigeration leaks
