Position Industrial Mechanic - Day Shift - Grimsby
Job Type Permanent
Education
  • At least 2 years of maintenance experience working in a production / manufacturing environment
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Any related education / certifications an asset (Millwright license, Mechanic license, Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma, etc.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic principles, automated equipment
  • Strong mechanical and technical understanding
  • Good troubleshooting skills and ability to deal with unexpected production floor changes / issues
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic electrical experience
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Good attendance record
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, CMMS
  • Experience using a CMMS or Project Management software an asset
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively
  • Able to adapt to various in-plant conditions (noise, temperature)
  • Willing to wear PPE – Personal Protective Equipment (hairnet, ear plugs, safety glasses, safety boots/shoes)
  • Be flexible to work other shifts if necessary (afternoon shift, night shift, weekend overtime)
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on motors, conveyor systems, and production machinery
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measurement and testing instruments
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
  • Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Work to improve machine efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve quality of product / processes
  • Assemble and align gears, bearings and shafts
  • Maintain effective equipment maintenance schedules and records on company equipment and tools
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Procure parts for necessary repairs and adjustments
  • Management of parts inventory
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Oversee and act as a mentor to two mechanical team members

Pay Range up to $39/hr to start dep. on exper.
