Position Director of Distribution - Toronto

Education
  • College Diploma (minimum) ; University Degree preferred – ideally in a related field (logistics, supply chain management)
  • Professional certification preferred (P.Log, CITT, CSCP or SCMP)
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
  • 7 yrs+ progressive experience in Distribution and related Supply Chain environments and the distribution industry (innovation, technologies, methodologies, channel business models, etc.)
  • Demonstrated abilities to lead, coach and develop a team
  • Demonstrated ability to drive lean / continuous improvement initiatives
  • Financial expertise in budget preparation and general fiscal responsibility
  • Able to deliver against aggressive metrics (operations and performance)
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Responsible for planning, directing, and leading the Planning, Inventory Control, Receiving, Order Processing and Returns & Refinishing departments, and strategies of the Canadian Distribution Centre
  • Work with the Executive Director to support the Distribution elements of the Global Supply Chain Strategy
  • Educate and collaborate with Distribution Centre Management to align Business and Development goals to support deliverables of the strategy and ensure the teams understand their role
  • Employ business analytical techniques to support Strategic Planning
  • Identifying internal / external best practices, industry trends through association with professional organizations
  • Lead by example by conducting business in a professional manner and embodying the High Touch Leadership Competencies
  • Drive Performance Management including setting clear individual and team business goals; monitor, track, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback
  • Motivate, coach, mentor direct reports, including setting individual development goals to leverage employee’s strengths and leadership competencies
  • Work with their management team that fosters a culture of Safety, Inclusion, and Diversity and employee engagement
  • Monitor compliance with department / corporate policies and procedures
  • Develop and achieve annual Department Operating Budget and recommend Capital expenditures with a focus on cost savings projects
  • Develop, measure, and drive the planning and execution of Department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitor and control variable spending and labour costs
  • Achieve the monthly North American branded sales plans and Global International affiliate commitments
