||Environmental Health and Safety Manager
|Duties / Responsibilities
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will direct and support all health and safety initiatives
They will be responsible for and ensure that both ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 systems fully operational and effective.
They must be fluent in North American Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation (e.g. OSHA, OHSA, EPA, Virginia DEQ, Ontario MOECC, etc.) and all other relevant laws and upcoming initiatives to ensure that the company's North American locations are meeting legislative requirements.
Develop and implement environmental and safety strategies and action plans, to ensure corporate sustainable development
Take the lead on sustainable procurement for all goods and services
Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy
Lead the implementation and development of environmental and safety policies and practices
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety legislation and keep up to date with regulation and legislation (OSHA, OHSA, MOL, DEQ)
Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and competent bodies
Audit, analyze and report environmental and Safety performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies
Carry out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organization’s environmental and safety risks
Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental and safety issues
Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arising Develop and implement ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001to continually improve the organization.
Investigate all environmental, health and safety incidences and coordinate with all relevant parties the root cause and corrective actions.
Coordinate public hearings and consultations on environmental matters
Support all workplace compensation claims and return to work protocol
Develop a training plan for North America, track and ensure that all levels of employees are trained to maintain compliance
Stay current on best practices, joining groups and memberships to relevant organizations
Support negotiations of environmental service agreements, tracking associated costs and revenues
Submit a detailed monthly reports on HS& E activities
Schedule annual hygiene testing
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Achieved or in progress of CRSP certification
Knowledge of ISO systems
5 years experience working in EH&S
