Position Production Supervisor - rotating shifts - Etobicoke

Education
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering ; preference for mechanical or chemical but will consider others
  • 8 yrs+ industrial experience in a production environment
  • 3 yrs+ supervisory experience
  • Experience with continuous improvement
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Supervise employees engaged in the operation of paint line or electro-galvanizing line (waste treatment) and the movement of material between production lines via material handling
  • Ensure efficient achievement of organizational goals, focusing on Health & Safety, cost, time management, maximum quality and productivity
  • Supervise employees and assign work ensuring all work is performed safely, correctly and efficiently, machinery is fully utilized and the flow of product through the line suffers no unnecessary delay or interruption
  • Monitor the work of employees regularly during each shift to ensure compliance with expected standards, coaching and training employees as required to achieve optimum results
  • Work with information provided by the Production Control Department, the Plant Manager and Plant Supervisor, and plan the daily work coordinating shift activities with those of the two other shifts and with the Maintenance and Quality Assurance departments
  • During each shift, check performance of the production lines frequently, ensuring line speeds, temperatures, coaters, metal prep and other manufacturing essentials are operating within spec, direct any corrections necessary to improve line performance
  • Report all exceptions to normal performance to the appropriate authority
  • Ensure all Prestart requirements are met
  • Ensure employees correctly apply all packaging standards and they understand the need for high quality in outgoing materials
  • Organize the flow, handling and storage of coils to minimize handling and provide optimum accessibility for delivery to production lines, removal from lines and marshalling of incoming and outgoing loads
  • Advise oncoming shift of any conditions or problems that may affect their work

Pay Range $65K + benefits + paid overtime
