Position Director of Engineering

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical, Electronic or other related Engineering
  • Must have 5 + year's at an Engineering Manager or similar level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with other company leaders
  • Solid understanding of Network and WEB technologies
  • Solid understanding of audio circuitry
  • Solid PCB layout design experience
  • Experience with mid-volume products preferred
  • Experience with diverse engineering disciplines (firmware, hardware, software) preferred
Duties / Responsibilities
    Management Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and technological guidance in creating and continuously improving Engineering and New Products development;
  • Manage and co-ordinate multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Be accountable for achieving Company's goals and objectives in the latest Technologies and New Product Development, Electronics Engineering Support, and product quality from a design perspective;
  • Create and implement New Product Development strategy;
  • Manage all New Product Development programs, product designs, with a view of testing of products;
  • Maintain company's leadership in electronic designs and technologies in the communications field by developing unique and state of the art, Ethernet based hardware, firmware and software solutions;
  • Guide and coordinate electronics design team;
  • Mentor, train and guide the staff, inspire electronics engineers to bring original creations, innovations, and a robust product design through inspiring teamwork;
  • Develop and continuously improve the skill and qualification levels of all electronics engineering employees in Hardware, Firmware and Software;
  • Set and monitor key performance indicators for the engineering department employees;
  • Oversee Safety and EMI testing of products;
  • Manage Company's Scientific Research and Experimental Development Program; Product Design Responsibilities:
  • Provide direction to engineers and oversee the development of schematics and PCB board layouts (with ORCAD, Solid Works, or similar tools);
  • Provide direction and guidance to firmware developers;
  • Provide direction and guidance to hardware designers;
  • Execute and deliver full New Product Introduction process, including prototyping, and verification processes;
  • Design for Manufacturability and Testability (DFM, DFT);
  • Work with industry standards and certifications bodies such as UL, IEC CE and any other standards as per the industry requirements;
  • Ensure all designs are compliant with EMI/EMC standards;
  • Work under the Company's Quality Management System and related design and development procedures and standards;
  • Understand client-specific technologies and product requirements;
  • Provide technical assistance to production when needed and assist in manufacturability issues;
  • Report on project progress and follow and maintain project timelines;
