Position Maintenance Supervisor - Days - Whitby
Job Type Permanent
Education
  • Trade license (Millwright, Electrician, etc.) strongly preferred
  • 7 yrs+ progressive experience in a maintenance position with proven mechanical ability
  • Relevant experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment; any injection molding experience an asset
  • Good experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical
  • Ability to lead and motivate personnel to deal promptly with safety, quality, and production related equipment issues
  • Ability to coordinate and manage outside resources (contractors, suppliers)
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Sense of urgency and accountability
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct the maintenance process
  • Direct the activities of the maintenance team, including manpower assignments, scheduling, issuing disciplinary actions if required conducting annual performance appraisal, and other employee relations matters
  • Ensure that the production and production support equipment are in good / safe working condition
  • Ensure that an effective preventive & predictive maintenance system is in place and well understood by the members of the maintenance team
  • Work closely with production and tool room departments to minimize machine downtime by identifying root cause, ensuring timeliness of repair operation, coordinating necessary support departments, and following up on corrective actions to avoid future breakdowns; inspect operating equipment and environment of the working area and maintain standards
  • Promote a positive employee relations climate by maintaining open communications with maintenance team and practicing effective conflict resolution
  • Promote CI activities including reviewing all suggestions made by team members; coordinate resources for implementation; make recommendations for productivity and safety improvements
  • Identify training requirements for maintenance team members, set schedules and provide resources to conduct required training; maintain skill charts for team members
  • Maintain a safe working environment including completion of accident investigation reports, good housekeeping, safety training, utilization of PPE and compliance with safety rules and procedures
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and re-order material; select reliable and quality suppliers for spare parts, contractors for building modifications, major machine repair work, etc.
  • Ensure equipment and required tools are kept in good working condition and readily available
  • Other duties as applicable to the role

Pay Range $70K to $80K
