Position Screw Machine Programmer / Operator - Eastern Ontario

Education
  • High School Diploma as a minimum; Technical College Diploma as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician or other relevant technical training preferred
  • 5 yrs programming and set-up experience with multi-axis screw machines
  • Fanuc controls experience an asset
  • PartMaker / FeatureCAM experience an asset
  • Prior experience with programming complex, close tolerance parts made from stainless steel preferred; medical or aerospace industry experience an asset
  • Basic Shop Math fluency
  • Engineering drawing and spec understanding and interpretation
  • Knowledge of machine shop equipment and measuring devices
  • Thorough understanding of cutting tool selection and identification of wear or breakage
  • Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principals, print reading and mathematics
  • Proficient with micrometers, toolmakers microscopes, calipers, test indicators, travel indicators and optical comparators
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Create programs utilized by screw machines for the machining sequence in parts production
  • Create item documentation such as set-up instructions, offset sheets, program files, and any electronic note files required for each item number
  • Check parts for quality and ensure that they conform to both engineer drawings, visual standards, and written detail requirements
  • Perform first-run set-up and test runs in the development of new or redesigned parts
  • Apply changes in processes, equipment, or machine and tool components in the ongoing continuous improvement process
  • Assist department personnel in problem solving
  • Train department personnel in set-up or operation functions
  • Work with vendors for new equipment purchases or tool design requirements
  • Work with the department manager to establish costs for product or equipment
  • Identify cost savings possibilities and develop requirements and experiments to initiate changes
  • Develop new parts processes
  • Responsible for machine maintenance either personally or indirectly

Pay Range up to $31/hr to start + OT
