Position Mechanical Designer, Thermal Background

Duties / Responsibilities
    Scope: Position requires strong knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, computer layout, solid modeling, and drawing reading. Responsible as design team leader in development of designs for complete and complex engineering systems and structures. Thermal experience an asset. Plans and executes presentation of complex engineering systems and structures. Has knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and codes. Typical Duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:
  • CAD-based general arrangement drawings
  • CAD-based three dimensional layouts and engineering drawings
  • CAD-based as-built drawings
  • Three-dimensional models
  • Part item masters and bills of material.Essential functions: Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
  • Work as design leader in a design team
  • Act as primary contributor to research of design options
  • Assist with preparation of and/or lead design presentations
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate own work as well as work as assigned by design team leader
  • Develop designs for complete and complex engineering systems and structures with minimal supervision from design team leader
  • Develop three-dimensional CAD layouts with minimal supervision from design team leader
  • Develop ERP/MRP part item masters and bills of material
  • Assist with review of calculations, design models, drawings and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion
  • Assure drawings and designs are in accordance with company design standards
  • Review shop drawings
  • Occasional responsibility to work with production as engineering liaison to document and resolve product manufacturing issues. Experience/Skills/Qualifications
  • Associate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline and eight years design experience; or Specialized courses in drafting, CAD design and engineering practices, and ten years of design experience; or Equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Progress toward or full C.E.T. Certification
  • Strong team building skills in both leadership and support roles
  • Experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and a team leader
  • Comfortable and effective dealing with organizations on all levels
