Position Mechanical Project / Design Leader - Burlington
Job Type Permanent
Education
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma
  • 8 years progressive experience in a custom design / fabrication environment, ideally related to heavy equipment manufacturing
  • Direct work experience with transportation related products or mobile equipment an asset
  • Strong proficiency in Solid Works, Autocad required ; any other 3D software experience an asset - be capable of drawing on paper a 3D sketch of concept to brainstorm design concepts beforehand
  • Solid background in design as it relates to problem solving on applying existing products to new applications
  • Experience leading projects and overseeing technical staff
  • Decisive and proactive approach to project management
  • Strong understanding of and experience with costing of parts, projects
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Leading design and development of all new products, detail design, modeling, detail drawings, assembly drawings and the continuous improvement of existing products and their application to meet end user requirements
  • Direct install of new product integration
  • Testing mechanical components
  • Manage projects from inception through completion including fabrication, installation, and testing
  • Design modifications to products or introduce new designs to meet customer's requirements
  • Use Solid Works to design products or parts to meet customer needs
  • Complete or modify engineering masters for all orders to ensure they accurately represent the 'build' as per the 'as built' final result vs. the standard design
  • Lead junior engineering team on their assignments, task progress, and schedule making sure their results and outcomes meet project deadlines and costs
  • Conduct final inspection and recommend acceptance or rejection of completed designs
  • Create and implement standard specifications and procedures for mechanical engineering projects
  • Improve operations, reduce turnaround times, and optimize processes to provide lowest cost product to customers

Pay Range up to $80K to start - dep. on exper.
